DIFF Work Trips Planned!
There are two upcoming work trips to improve the
Great Island camp.
May 21-23 will be a DIFF cabin upgrade trip.
Ernie Holcomb will lead a group that includes Mike Mathews, Kevin Davis, Scott
McCormick, Ricky Hayes and Doug Owens.
They will begin upgrading cabins with shelves and hooks per the plan we submitted
last year to Mike McGee.
Materials are being donated by Ernie and Mike.
The group has worked many evenings to precut and stain the materials, so installation
will go fast.

Happy 25th Birthday DIFF!
2010 Tournament in October
The 25th annual Fall Fishing Tournament is scheduled for noon thursday October 14th through noon Saturday October 16th. The DIFF Board of Directors voted unanimously at our meeting June 27th 2009 to move the date to the second Thursday in October in search of cooler temperatures and nmore "monster" DRUM. This is in response to a majority of our DIFF members and their requests for later tournament. Please make your ferry reservations and cabin reservations as quickly as possible for the next Fall Tournament.
Bottle Recycling
NC will become the 3rd state to ban the disposal of plastic bottles in traditional trash bins. Legislation passed in 2005 becomes effective October 1st for soda bottles, water bottles, milk jugs, and other small-neck plastic bottles. Please support recycling at home and while on the island.
Long Range Plan
Well, thanks to the efforts of the Long Range Planning Committee, we have a handle on the direction DIFF should take for the next five years. This year the guidance comes from committee members Mark Weir, Scot King, Ed Caskey, David Holcomb, Mike Laughlin, Ann Beeson, Johnny Wells, and Mary Ellen Wells. As a result, the membership can expect to see continuation of successful club activities, the addition of some new projects, the resurrection of some old projects and some exciting opportunities for the club, South Core Banks and Cape Lookout National Seashore. The Long Range Planning Committee welcomes any input and assistance from the membership for the present and future benefit of DIFF, CALO and South Core Banks.
