Come join us at the club's Annual Meeting March 7

DIFF Club members will gather in Pineville Saturday, March 7, for the club's Annual Meeting. Lunch will start 11:30 a.m. in the Pineville Volunteer Fire Department, and the meeting will begin at noon.

A couple of important issues will come up during the meeting. Members will be updated on the National Park Service's plans for a new concessionaire's contract for Cape Lookout National Seashore and the potential for a new camp near the lighthouse.

Members also will elect a new Board of Directors and will discuss the annual fishing tournament, club projects this year and a number of other topics.

Lunch will be a little different this year. The Pineville firemen have in the past cooked lunch, usually fried fish. Preparing lunch for 100 people and cleaning up afterwards is time consuming. To make life easier on the fireman, this year a catered barbecue lunch will be tried.

A number of guest speakers are expected to join us, including Bill Harris. Bill recently lost his job as superintendent at Cape Lookout, apparently over his management of the wild horses on Shackleford Banks. The meeting will provide a good way for club members to thank Bill for his work at the park.

Annette Mitchum, one of the owners of Alger Willis Fishing Camps, Inc., is also expected to attend.
