After several years of arguing, bragging, chest beating and anything short of fist fighting an idea was born. All these so-called "best Drum fishermen" would put some money up and the biggest Drum caught would win the money and the bragging rights. An unofficial tournament was put together and held in the winter of 1984 to settle the issue. No legal fish were caught. Don Eury said, "someone caught a shark and put it in an open cooler. Note from BK
Neil Tucker, a college buddy of BK’s son-in-law Myron Werner, sent the DIFF Club a $1,000 check contribution to be used at the Board’s discretion to assist in the relief of the devastation wrought by Isabel at Davis Shore. Neil, who has a landscaping business in Indianapolis, has spent enjoyable time on the island and has grown to appreciate what time on the island means to so many of us. Several years ago Neil’s business was hit by a tornado and all but destroyed. Neil tells how many people came to his rescue: customers, employees and friends did what they could to help Neil get back on his feet...he didn’t forget. His generous gift will go to help the locals during their time of need in recovery. The DIFF Board received the contribution and voted to contribute it and an additional one thousand dollars to the Salvation Army in Morehead City, NC. |

Helen Wynnberry and Jim Gaither put forth the most extensive effort ever to secure sponsors. The only sponsorship gap looming was the Saturday lunch. Then AWFC and Morgan– Stanley (Bing Michael) agreed to cosponsor the lunch! It was going |

I started making a detailed checklist for last minute purchases and packing. Somebody told me there are three phases to a fishing trip: planning the next trip, the trip itself and remembering the last trip. I was heavy into phase 1 and 3 |
